A successful lds mission starts with preparation. Before a missionary even enters the Missionary Training Center (MTC), gaining a sound understanding and testimony of the scriptures is important.

nor even three hundred. Fifty well chosen verses of scripture will become a
remarkably effective tool in the hands of a missionary."

Scriptorian is a great tool for helping prospective missionaries learn important scriptures that describe the doctrines of the gospel. Scriptorian can also be used to help learn the concepts contained in the missionary lessons. Returned missionaries can use this tool to help them retain the important verses that they have learned during their mission.

The "Preach My Gospel" guide to missionary service is a wonderful tool for helping prospective missionaries prepare for the mission field. The "Preach My Gospel - Learning the Missionary Lessons" page includes suggestions for how to learn the missionary lessons.
Other Missionary Resources
LDS Mission Network: "the oldest and most comprehensive index of missionary web sites — a volunteer service by returned missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
This site contains information for newly called missionaries regarding their area of service, as well as helpful information for returned missionaries to locate former companions and find out about reunions.
MissionaryWorld.com: "provides free Web sites for families and friends around the world who are supporting a missionary." One of the features here is creating a web site to allow families to share letters and other information from their missionaries with other family and friends from one easy to use location.
