Use Scriptorian to help you learn the Missionary Lessons found in the "Preach My Gospel" Guide to Missionary Service

Description: This study list is an outline of the five missionary lessons, and their associated concepts, found in the new "Preach My Gospel" guide to missionary service. This new program replaces the LDS missionary discussions, officially known as the Uniform System for Teaching the Gospel. The direction accompanying these new lessons is for missionaries to "learn the concepts of the lessons, but these should not be taught by rote presentation." However, missionaries are asked to "commit to memory the sequence of the doctrinal points in each of the missionary lessons". The Missionary Lessons study list is a great way for prospective missionaries (and member missionaries!) to learn and remember the concepts presented in these lessons.

The Missionary Lessons study list is organized in an outline form and is set to use Quote It's sequential feature. This means that Quote It will present the list's items in the same order as they appear in the study list. The order of the study list is to first learn the topics of each of the five lessons, then the outline of the first lesson, then the concepts presented in the first lesson, and so forth.

Suggested Usage: The best way to use this list is to use Quote It (There is limited value in using Chase with this list). Start by doing just a few of the items in the list, probably using Learn mode to become familiar with them. After a few sessions, when you start feeling comfortable with the items you have learned, proceed a little farther into the list. As you get farther into the list, you may want to skip over the first items and spend your time working on the later ones. But don't forget to occasionally review all the concepts you have learned. Eventually, when you have worked through the entire list, switch to Quote It's Complete fill in mode to ensure you have remembered the sequence of the lessons and their content.

You may want to change the order of the list so that you learn the principles in each lesson before you start learning the concepts. If you would like to change the order, just modify the numbering in the study item's reference. You could do this by changing "1. Lesson", "2. Lesson", etc. to "0.1. Lesson", "0.2. Lesson", etc..

Because the approach of this teaching method is to rely on personal understanding and the testimony of the Spirit, it is important to learn and memorize key scriptures that support the doctrines being taught. After you have learned the sequence of the lessons' presentation, you may want to expand this study list by including favorite scriptures with the concepts they support. Suggested scriptures are found in the "Preach My Gospel" guide. You may also want to incorporate the scripture study lists found on the Missionary Lesson Scriptures download page.

The "Preach My Gospel - Learning the Missionary Lessons" page also includes suggestions for how to learn the missionary lessons.
