How To: Adding new study items to a study list
Scriptorian includes the full LDS Scripture library and is optimized to
help you memorize and learn the scriptures. However, you can easily
include items from different libraries (referred to as "user" libraries
in the help file) into your study list as well.
To add study items from different libraries into your study list, open
the Create/Edit Study List dialog. From the
Library combo box (located about two thirds of the way down the dialog), select
the library you want to add study items from. The dialog will then display the
items in your selected library that you can now add to your study list. ( Note:
You will not be able to add a study item from a user library unless a user library
was created or imported previously. )
For example, if you have previously imported the LDS hymns library (either
from the Scriptorian CD or from our download area), you can select it from
the list of libraries in the Library combo box.
When you do, you will see a list of the available hymns displayed. Just select
the hymn you want and add it to the list.
You may also want to add your own items to your study list. You can do this
within the Create/Edit Study List dialog by clicking on the
Create Item button. This will display the
User Defined Reference dialog for you to add new items into Scriptorian.
In this dialog, enter the study item's reference in the
Reference field and the content of the study item in the edit field below.
For example, suppose you came across this quote that you wanted to memorize:
"The block of granite that is an obstacle
in the path of the weak becomes a stepping
stone in the path of the strong."
Thomas Carlyle
You could set the reference to be "Adversity, Thomas Carlyle" and then enter the
text of the quote into the edit field below. When you are done, click on the
Save button to save the new study item to the
selected library and also add it to the study list (if the
Add to Study List check box is selected). You have just created your own
study item.
Remember that Scriptorian includes extensive help to guide you through
much of what was presented here. For example, to get help creating a
study list, just select Help from the main menu, then How Do I?
and Study Lists. From the help window that appears, select
Add study items to a study list to get step by
step instructions.
