How To: Printing to 3x5 cards
One of the nice features in Scriptorian 2.1 is being able to print study items to 3x5 cards.
However, several users have expressed difficulty in getting this to work correctly on their
particular printer, partly because there is no provision in Scriptorian to adjust the printer margins.
This is something that we are hoping to remedy in the next version of Scriptorian, as well as other
printing enhancements.
However, if you are one of those who cannot currently print to 3x5 cards, we have done some
testing and believe that there is a work around that should resolve the problem for most printers.
Admittedly, it may not be the best solution, but for now it should allow you to print to 3x5 cards.
- From the "Start" menu select "Settings", then "Printers" (This should open a window
showing an icon for your printer)
- Right click on your printer and select "Properties"
- Click on the "Paper" tab (Note: If your printer does not have the "Paper" tab option, then you
may be unable to make the necessary adjustments)
- Click on the "Unprintable Area..." button
- Increase the measure for "Left" by 1/4 inch (our test printer HP 870 Cxi shows 250 - adding
250 should add a 1/4 inch)
- Click OK (to close the unprintable area dialog)
- Then Click Apply - to use the new settings.
- Now try printing your cards (At this point you should probably run a test page through - not a
real form - to verify that the measurements are correct. You can adjust the "Left" value setting if
necessary.)
- When done printing, go back into the "Unprintable Area..." dialog and reset "Left" to the
original value. (This can probably be done by clicking the "Restore Defaults" button.) can print out the
information in full page or 3x5 card format.
Remember that Scriptorian includes extensive help to guide you through its features. For example, to get printing help, just select Help from the main menu, then How Do I? and then select an appropriate topic, to get step by step instructions.
