Tips: Learn Your Lines

Scriptorian is a great tool for budding actors and actresses (unless you were the one that didn't receive any speaking parts!). Quote It can be a handy way to help you learn your lines. Here are some tips for using Quote It to learn a script.

First, it's probably a good idea to create a separate study list for the lines you are learning. You may also want to create a new library for the study items you are creating. When creating the study items, create one study item per speaking part. For the reference, write out your queue. For example, you can write the last words of the speaking part just before yours, or a particular situation that precedes your speaking part. Also, to keep your lines in order, prefix the reference with a number and then use Quote It's sequential feature so that you will be able to work each item in order.

When using Quote It to learn your lines, it is helpful to not only type them out but to sound them out as well. And don't just sound out your line- sound out your queue as well (if it is a spoken part). Using your voice and hearing will greatly reinforce the words you are learning and make them easier to recall.

How do you use Scriptorian? Have you come up with some ideas that may be useful for others? Please feel free to share them with us.
