Tips: Tips for using CSV format
Perhaps you are wondering how you might be able to use Scriptorian's
new CSV file support. Here are a couple suggestions that may come in
handy.
Using Scriptorian's Create/Edit Study List dialog for adding items to
your study list works wonderfully for scriptures and hymns because the
items you want are already contained in libraries. However, if you
want to create a study list for your own items (such as vocabulary,
quotes, homework, etc.), the process for creating new items can be
cumbersome. By using the CSV format, you can use a spreadsheet or word
processor to quickly create the items in your study list and then
import it into Scriptorian. This works for creating new lists or
adding to existing ones. When adding to existing lists, just make sure
the Overwrite name conflicts without prompting checkbox is not
selected. This will make sure your changes are correctly merged into
your existing list.
If the format of the CSV file looks a little daunting to you, you can
use Scriptorian to create the structure for you. Just create your new
study list in Scriptorian and add a representative study item to it.
Once you have created and saved this study list, just export it to CSV
format. You will have the header row and special rows created for you
with the first study item as an example for how to create the rest.
If you are using a spreadsheet to create and edit CSV files, it is
helpful to modify your settings so that each cell's contents wrap
within the cell. This makes it much easier to see and edit each field
of the study item.
How do you use Scriptorian? Have you come up with some ideas that may
be useful for others? Please share them through the feedback page or e-mail them to us.
